12 Foundations: Motor Skills

The ABC Pathways mat is designed to prepare our students brains to be ready for learning. The patented design works to relax, and refocus the brain, giving the child a chance to strengthen their self regulation skills, and reset to a peaceful state. As research shows, a child acting out, is a child calling out for help to cope with their current emotional state. Walking the ABC Pathways figure 8 pattern, creates a meditative rhythm that works to calm the brain waves and soothe the child.  The movement is designed to help the child reset and refocus. ABC Pathways mat is used in Action Based Learning Labs, Classrooms, Hallways, and Libraries to give the student an opportunity to practice self regulation on the patented ABC Pathways Figure 8 symbol.

Movement Activities on the mat are endless, allow the student to learn the letters of the alphabet kinesthetically. Walking the ABC Pathways mat, the student is able to kinesthetically trace each letter of the alphabet, while strengthening gross motor skills, eye tracking, and cross lateralization - 3 foundations critical to learning.
